In environments where several people perform individual or group activities, it is essential to ensure the right acoustic comfort for more effective work or learning. Many studies have shown how a harmonious environment that meets acoustic comfort standards helps reduce stress, while improving listening, teaching and learning and even increasing customer loyalty.

Legislative Decree 626/1994 on workplace safety confirms the importance that acoustics also plays in terms of safety.

During the design phase of a building or its rooms, it is vital to take into account the materials that could create a comfortable acoustic environment and convey a sense of well-being to users. Standard UNI11690 provides valuable guidelines for designers including in terms of acoustic comfort. For existing venues, you should conduct in-depth acoustic analysis or take measurements to determine the reverberation time in order to develop suitable solutions for achieving optimum acoustic parameters that work for the type of activity performed there. 


Sound is a rapid variation of pressure at a certain point in space: whether or not a room reverberates primarily depends on its size and on the capacity of its exposed surfaces to absorb sounds.

Reverberation can sometimes put a real strain on your hearing, causing a certain degree of stress over time. Stress is closely related to the mental fatigue caused by spending an extended period of time in rooms with inefficient acoustics.

Within an environment, sounds generated from several sources reverberate (echo), due to the high proportion of construction materials with a low acoustic absorption capacity, as well as the volume. This causes a subsequent increase in the sound level (decibel). Under such conditions, communicating becomes exhausting and the volume spoken will be louder than necessary, leaving users with an unpleasant feeling of fatigue.

There is an ever increasing need to improve the living conditions of an environment, including in terms of its acoustic performance. The proper design of a venue should focus on its finishing materials, which must guarantee appropriate acoustic absorption for the intended activity at that venue. In the event that you want or insist on materials that lack significant acoustic absorption levels, it will then be necessary to intervene during the furniture design phase to integrate sound-absorbing material and to ensure that the environment is acoustically comfortable.

Depending on how they are used, different materials and products have been developed which can resolve reverberation problems. To prove their efficiency, the finished products must undergo tests in a reverberation chamber and be certified according to the guidelines in standard ISO354.

Materials or systems that perform poorly often mislead buyers due to their low cost; first of all, the right approach will identify the acoustic objective (reverberation time, STI, ALCONS, etc) and will then determine the cost of the work in order to achieve the appropriate acoustic comfort for that specific venue.

Our sound-absorbing products have been tested in reverberation chambers in accordance with standard ISO354 and are divided according to their type of application (walls, horizontal hanging cables, free-standing, etc). The technical data sheets and certifications are available upon request.

The Silente, Nuvola, Flag, Scriba and D-Space finished products meet European fire safety regulatory requirements in accordance with standard UNI EN 13501-1 and are certified under class B-s2,d0; they are also approved for fire prevention by the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
These products also comply with existing health and safety legislation for the new formaldehyde classification. In particular, they are certified against the release of formaldehyde under EN 717-1:2004 with values of mg/m3 <0.01 – ppm <0.01.
